We are a family run Smallholding based in the stunning Kale Valley, within the Cheviot Hills. We offer an array of Alpaca Treks, taking in some of the finest scenery the Scottish Borders has to offer. Horse riders are welcome to visit; park trailers and head off on one of our local routes.
We are a husband and wife team, (Alan & Lynne) who set up Beirhope Alpacas in 2017. Beirhope is a true hidden gem; nestled in the Kale Valley the nearby Towns of Jedburgh and Kelso are a short car journey away. With direct access from the farm onto tracks including Dere Street, Pennymuir and a short ride to St Cuthbert’s Way there are miles of rolling hills to explore on foot, bicycle, horseback or in the company of an Alpaca.
Our Alpaca treks take in the surrounding area to the farm and usually last some 75 minutes. We may take the route to the top of Thowlstaine, the site of an old Roman Fort which boasts 360 degree views inc Cheviot, Pennine Way, Lammermuir Hills and the Eildon’s to name but a few. Shorter treks and other options including ‘Meet-a-Paca’ and ‘Pet-a-Paca-Picnic’ for those who would prefer a more gentle pace are available.
Our trekking Alpacas are all boys; they loved to be fussed over and enjoy being fed carrots as a treat. Alpacas are a great way to forget about the hustle and bustle of life and make fabulous company whilst trekking. A member of the Beirhope Team will be with you on any of the Alpaca options and are always happy to talk about Alpacas.
For Horse riders we offer a base for any day trips you have planned. Parking is available, water for the horses and a well earned hot or cold drinks for riders upon your return. We are in a truly magnificent location with the rolling hills of the Borders right on our doorstep.
Visitors are welcome to bring along a picnic and enjoy the peace and quiet of our surrounding countryside. There are a number of picnic spots dotted around Beirhope.
